Journey by Stephen Clark
    to Ridgetown

You refuse the old woman's offer and keep walking down the road. You walk for quite a long time. There are no more shops. You don't have a clue where you are. It seems to be some kind of desert.
After a while you're feeling very thirsty. Your throat is parched. You'd do anything for a drink. But out this far in the desert, there are no signs of human habitation. Now internally you're kicking yourself for not accepting the old lady's offer of a drink earlier. You turn back the way you came, hoping to get back to the shop, but you die of thirst on the way. And your last thought before dying is, "If only I'd accepted that drink! If only...! Aaaaargh."
